Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing and delivering Vehicle MOT Testing on fleet vehicles, taxi vehicles and private vehicles. Also assist to with vehicle servicing and repairs.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
1. To deliver Vehicle MOT Testing.
2. Maintain records for all MOTs undertaken.
3. Responsible for maintain the MOT bay and station.
4. Responsible for the Council’s ATF. ???
5. Undertake vehicle servicing and repairs.
7. To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required.
Relationships: Responsibility for People - Supervision/Management:
Nil
Impact and Advising: Decision making, Planning requirements and Procedural context:
1. To determine the pass and failure of MOT tests.
2. Provide advice as to why a vehicle failed and what is required to pass.
3. Work in a safe manner according to all relevant health and safety regulations, utilising risk assessments where required.
4. Ensure all statutory and associated documentation is completed to the prescribed standard in accordance with workshop demands.
5. To professionally advise on vehicle safety, promoting best practice across the team.
Job Working Environment:
1. Predominately to work in a workshop/garage environment
2. Predominately based at Thornton Depot, Milford Haven but may be required to work at other depots or anywhere else in the County.
Person specification - Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
1. Must hold a current drivers licence
2. Qualified to a City and Guilds Standard or equivalent
3. Minimum 3 years’ experience as a qualified vehicle fitter
4. Qualified MOT tester Class 4,5 and 7
5. Will need to work well within a team, as well as on own initiative.
