Job Description:
Firmware Engineer - 6 Months - Outside IR35
Firmware Engineer required by a leading tech company for an initial 6-month contract. It’s fully remote, outside IR35, and will likely extend long-term due to the amount of work they have in the pipeline.
The Role:
As a Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for various tasks, but you will be mainly focused on the modification and development of their new sensor system that analyses power lines worldwide. The main tools you will be using day to day are:


Must Have
** ThreadX RTOS
** Embedded C
** Multi-threaded systems experience
** Comfortable working with version control systems such as GIT
Nice to Have:
** Renesas Synergy experience
** Flash storage experience
** Cellular communications hardware and protocols (NB-IOT, CAT1, and CAT4)
Bonus:
** Over-the-Air (OTA) programming
** USB comms
** Serial COMs console Interface
** JSON data structures
** C++ to C translate/restructure
Our customer is looking for someone who is well-versed in the above tools/technologies. They need someone who understands the principles of Embedded Engineering and is willing to roll up their sleeves as this project is critical for them.
As a Senior team member, you are expected to pick up work quickly, work closely with other team members, and help build upon an already industry-leading product.
Rate / Process:
This urgent role is based in Edinburgh City Centre but is fully remote.
The interview process will be a one-stage video call with the Head of Engineering & other team members.
We can organise an interview within a few days as this is an absolute priority across the entire business.
Rate-wise, we have between £700 - £1000 per day + VAT, depending on experience and availability.
