Job Description:
Position: Structured Cabling Engineer (Temp/Contract/Freelance)
Location: Shrewsbury
Rate: £170 per day
Duration: 6 Weeks
Job Summary: We are looking for a Structured Cabling Engineer to install Fibre & Cat6/Cat6a copper cables. You will work with the IT team to ensure reliable and efficient network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Cabling Installation
* Plan and install Fibre, Cat6 and Cat6a cables following industry standards.
* Organize and secure cables using trays, conduits, and other pathways.
* Install connectors, outlets, and termination panels as specified.
Termination and Labeling
* Terminate cables onto jacks, connectors, and patch panels accurately.
* Label cables and connectors for easy identification.
* Keep detailed records of cable layouts and terminations.
Testing and Troubleshooting
* Test cables to check signal quality and performance.
* Troubleshoot and fix connectivity and signal issues.
* Use testing equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
Quality Assurance
* Ensure all cabling work meets high-quality standards and company guidelines.
* Perform quality checks on installations.
Network Expansion
* Support network expansion projects and integrate new cabling.
* Help design and implement new network infrastructure layouts.
Health and Safety
* Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
* Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
Requirements: * ECS/CSCS certification.
* Experience as a Structured Cabling Engineer with expertise in Fibre, Cat6 and Cat6a installation, termination, and testing.
