Job Description:
Transport Planning Manager
Menzies Distribution currently have an opening for an experienced Transport Planning Centre Manager to join our team in Coalville working Friday to Monday. As a company, Menzies is continuously evolving and we are looking for someone who not only wants to be part of that growth but also somebody who can assist with it and help in continuing to accelerate us forward.
This roles predominant responsibility is to manage and facilitate the delivery of Menzies customer’s product on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible and best use of available resources, whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety. Have the ability to maximize the utilization of all Menzies Class 1 Fleet through efficient planning of deliveries and collections in line with current driver’s hours and WTD legislation and to manage a team of planners effectively making sure they are all driven to achieving the KPI targets that are set out.
The Details
* Salary: £44k Per Annum
* Shift Pattern: Friday to Monday
* Hours: 07:00 - 18:00
* Holiday Allowance: 20 Days
* Location: Coalville
* Monthly Pay

* To be successful in your application we do require you to have experience in a previous Transport Planning role with HGV vehicles.
Key Duties and Accountabilities (Will include but not be limited to)
* Track and Trace daily weekly performance
* Introduce key competences
* Ensure that OTIF is adhered too (Contract specific) 97.5% minimum
* Manage and maintain Subcontractor performance and margins in line with budgeted targets
* Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources.
* Ensuring customer requirements are administered in a timely, controlled and recorded manner within the transport operation.
* Complete periodic reviews of the delivery schedule in line with all customers strategic changes.
* Ensure all fleet assets are planned in line with legal compliance requirements
* Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
* Ensure the transport planning operations are in line with budgeted costs and achieve all contractual KPI’s
* Preparing and submitting various KPI reports.
* Create an effective working environment building a diverse, well balanced team.
* To ensure all sub-contractors and suppliers are authorized in providing the most cost effective operational solution
* Manage and develop new business.
Key Experience and Qualifications:
* Excellent computer literacy (Micosoft Office, Word & Excel)
* In depth knowledge of Transport Systems (ESS, ESP. GTS or similar)
* Experience of leading a busy multiuser planning function
* Knowledge of driver hours, tachograph and WTD legislation
* Knowledge of continous improvement
* Good standard of education
* Ability to manage and develop team members
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
* Commercial understanding
Technical skills and behavioral competencies:
* Excellent leader with motivational skills
* Ability to understand, manipulate and present data on key measures in the planning centre
* Good communication skills
* Analytical thinker
* Works well under pressure
* Ability to prioritise
* Able to develop relationships with others (both internal and external)
* Problem solving and decision making skills.
