We are looking for a Head of Delivery to join our IT Delivery Team in Milton Keynes. Our Head of Delivery is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing a team of Delivery Managers and Scrum Masters, and the maturity of the delivery management practices across the teams. You will recruit, develop, retain talent, ensure the Delivery Management practice has the required skills and capabilities to meet business needs. The Head of Delivery will need to stay one step ahead ensuring clear technology roadmaps are defined and can be delivered against.
Key responsibilities:
* Line Management of all Delivery Manager & Scrum Masters – team of 10
* Define and implement best practices across the Portfolio Delivery teams based on industry standards.
* Own the Portfolio level delivery roadmap ensuring dependencies and forward planned and managed across the portfolio.
* Monitor and evaluate the performance and outcomes across the Portfolio Delivery teams and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
* Lead the Scrum of Scrums, identify and take ownership of Portfolio level risks and issues, ensuring visibility across the technology leadership team and appropriate management steps are in place to address.
* Become the point of contact and owns senior level escalations across Group Technology and Business aligned leadership teams.
* Mentor and coach the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
* Define the delivery function vision and goals ensuring alignment with Group Technology objectives through forming strong relationships with senior leadership teams.
* Support Delivery Managers in ensuring delivery roadmaps are defined for each business area and visible.
* Ensure Software engineering business aligned teams are appropriately resourced to support the delivery of change.
* Stay updated and informed about the latest trends, developments and opportunities in Delivery disciplines.
Experience & skills required:
* Preferably educated to graduate level in an IT or software related engineering degree and/Or 10 years’ experience in senior delivery management roles.
* Background in delivering technology in customer facing industries.
* Experience with using SAFe, and agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
* Strong talent management skills including talent development, coaching, mentoring, and team motivation.
* Experience leading geographically distributed teams.
* Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships at all levels of the organization.
* Strong business acumen and ability to understand and drive business objectives.
* Understanding of software development and delivery methodologies and best practices.
