Construction Designer
West Sussex
£55K - £70K + Package
Construction
Our client, a Construction Subcontractor based in West Sussex, are currently looking for a brand new Designer to join their team covering drylining, commercial and construction projects.
They provide a tailored service to their clients on interior fit out and drylining projects and are proud of the level of service their clients receive and as such are looking for an individual that pays attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
My client are actively on the lookout for an Designer who wants to work in a supportive environment that is gearing up for unprecedented growth.
The Role:
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following;
* Engage with the Pre-construction team to understand the design scope of newly secured works.
* Conclude any post tender RFI process and action the risk and opportunity schedule to the desired result.
* Contribute to the business support standards e.g. design deliverables, material schedules and specifications.
* The production of detailed design information e.g. CAD drawings, schedules, technical submittals, and specifications.
* Ensure that agreed design information is effectively communicated and understood by the project teams.
* Attend client design meetings as required.
* Ensure client data systems are managed and kept up to date with information and correct revisions.
* Work with other design resource or consultants to achieve the design deliverables.
* Build strategic relationships with client and other stakeholder professional teams.
* Form strategic relationships with key manufacturers to aid the design process.
* Assist the company compliance team in assessing the Design Standards.
* Support compliance through industry standards and manufacturer documentation and support, test data and technical evidence where required.
* Knowledge or current and applicable industry standards and codes of practice e.g. British Standards and Building Regulations (especially part B, E & L).
* Support technical queries within the business.
* Support training of other staff where appropriate.
* Update design deliverables with relevant information to aid the management of design, procurement and build programme.
Health & Safety:
* Ensure a high level of health and safety is upheld wherever possible.
* Identify HSE risks related to design and look for mitigation.
* Propose solutions to aid safer delivery and identification of requirements to the project delivery team.
* Ensure materials selected comply with safety and environmental standards required, seek improvement where feasible.
Quality:
* Support the Company to uphold the highest standards possible.
* Ensure all design is compliant to the clients requirements, legislation and manufacturer systems where applicable.
* Work collaboratively with the business operations and improvement managers to form effective business support processes and documentation.
* Work to the business support documents and BMS, raise improvement ideas when identified.
* Ensure Quality risks are identified in the design process and effectively communicated to the project team to implement mitigation.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Organisational and planning skills.
* Ability to engage with supplier’s, consultants and clients.
* Knowledge of the drywall, SFS and ceilings market and products.
* Genuine commitment to compliant delivery of services.
* Worked within delivery teams on commercial construction projects.
* Experience with Autocad software.
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
* Professional qualifications in technical scope.
* Knowledge or qualifications regarding design software / BIM.
