About the role... We seek a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Transport Clerk - Floating Shift at our Springvale Distribution Centre. The ideal candidate will coordinate and monitor the transportation of goods and materials, ensuring timely delivery and efficient logistics. If you are a proactive problem solver passionate about logistics, we want to hear from you.
This role requires flexibility to work day or night shifts, as it covers any shift over 24 hours. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transport logistics, contributing to Poundland’s overall success.

Your Impact and Responsibilities… As a Transport Clerk, you will play a crucial role in our Transport Office’s efficient and effective operation. Your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring the efficient operation of the Transport Office.
* Keeping workstations clean and tidy.
* Communicating effectively with customers, depots, third parties, and colleagues.
* Monitoring vehicle tracking to ensure timely deliveries.
* Generating driver paperwork using our bespoke software.
* Briefing and de-briefing all drivers, ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly.
* Deputising for the Transport Shift Manager in their absence.
* Continually monitoring all collections and delivery vehicles.
* Completing all issue logs.
* Performing other duties as required by operational needs.
* Delivering on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set at the commencement of employment.
Skills and Knowledge… The ideal candidate will possess:
* Attention to detail for accurate data entry.
* A full understanding of current UK Transport Legislation or a willingness to learn.
* A basic understanding and compliance with Transport Operators legislation.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* IT literacy with basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Retail experience and knowledge of FMCG warehousing and distribution (training provided).
* Working knowledge of transport/driver hours and regulations (training provided).
* Experience using Tachomaster, traffic management, and vehicle tracking software (training provided).
