Job Description:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join their team at a 4-bed children’s home in Leiston, near the picturesque Suffolk Coast. Their home, rated ’Good’ by Ofsted, supports children aged 9-17 with social, emotional, mental health, and behavioural difficulties. You will play a pivotal role in providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for their young residents, helping them to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Hours: 40 hours per week on a 6-week rolling rota
Shift Patterns:
* Early: 08:00-16:00
* Late: 15:00-23:00
* Long Day: 08:00-23:00
* Some sleep-ins required
Pay Rate:
* £11.57 - £12.61 per hour (depending on experience)
* Sleep-ins paid at £45 per night
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people with social, emotional, mental health, and behavioural difficulties.
* Develop positive, trusting relationships with residents, promoting their self-esteem and independence.
* Implement individualized care plans, supporting residents in their personal development and helping them achieve their goals.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
* Support with educational activities, both in and outside of school settings, fostering a positive learning environment.
* Participate in household tasks, meal preparations, and maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the home.
* Work collaboratively with the team, external professionals, and families to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s care.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
* Hold a Level 3 or 4 qualifications in Children and Young People or demonstrate a commitment to work towards this (course provided by the company).
* Previous experience in a similar role or working with children and young people with complex needs is highly desirable.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
* A driving licence is desirable but not essential.
