To provide expert emergency care to children and their families that attend children’s emergency departments at the Hospital. Provide support to the senior sister/charge nurse. Act as nurse in charge of the department when on shift. Support junior staff and participate in management of the team.
Responsibilities:
* Triage and Initial Assessment: Quickly and accurately assess the condition of incoming pediatric patients to prioritize the urgency of their needs, ensuring that critical cases receive immediate attention.
* Administering Treatments and Medications: Provide necessary treatments, including administering medications, performing wound care, starting IV lines, and assisting with emergency procedures as directed by physicians.
* Monitoring Vital Signs and Symptoms: Continuously monitor the vital signs and symptoms of pediatric patients, noting any changes and responding promptly to any signs of deterioration.
* Communication and Family Support: Communicate effectively with both the child and their family, providing clear explanations about procedures and treatments, and offering emotional support and reassurance.
* Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with doctors, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to patient care, including participating in the development of treatment plans.
* Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including assessments, treatments administered, and any changes in the patient’s condition, ensuring that all documentation complies with legal and hospital standards.
Requirements:
* Registered Nurse Child / RSCN.
* Level 3 Resus trained Pediatrics immediate life support (PILS)
* Experience working in an Acute Children’s Hospital Setting
* Previous experience working in a children’s Emergency Department
* Practice Assessor/Supervisor Training.
* EPALS/APLS provider
