Diamond Light Source is the UKs national synchrotron science facility. By accelerating electrons to near light-speed, Diamond generates brilliant beams of light from infra-red to X-rays which are used for academic and industry research and development across a range of scientific disciplines including structural biology, physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, earth and environmental sciences.
About the Role

We have an excellent opportunity to join Diamonds Legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel.The role will enable you to contribute to the success of Diamond by delivering both strategic and operational legal advice on a broad range of legal matters and issues across the business.
As Senior Legal Counsel you will act as lead for nominated areas of Diamond, supporting the Executive Directors and Senior Management in their activities.
You will be responsible for carrying out the business-as-usual review and negotiation of a wide range of contractual documents and transactions ensuring that Diamonds interests are protected, and commercial risks identified.
You will also contribute to Diamonds governance, process, and system development through participation in nominated projects and other complex matters.
A valued member of the Legal Team, you will contribute positively to the development of the Legal function and the efficiency of its operation, by identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives and strengthening its relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
About You

You will be a qualified lawyer admitted to practice in England & Wales, with considerable post-qualification experience. In-house experience is desirable but not essential.
You will have broad knowledge of Law, and demonstrate experience in the following areas: -
* Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
* Advising senior management and stakeholders.
* Data Protection Law, Company Law and governance.
* Leading significant projects.
* Implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
* Intellectual Property law, and Public law would be an advantage but is not essential.
You will have the ability to work independently and take personal responsibility for problem solution and management of your workload, and to work together with and support your team members.
You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, including possessing excellent written skills to draft contractual documents, reports, and director briefings.
