Job Description:
Location: Headquarters, Northallerton

Salary: Scale 3/4 (£23,121 - £27,351) plus shift allowance

Contract: Permanent / Full Time

Hours: 24/7 shift work, currently 12 hour shifts in a 4 on / 4 off pattern







North Yorkshire Police are seeking a committed and self-motivated individual to join the PNC Bureau, as a PNC Bureau & DVLA Data Officer. The role involves 24/7 shift work, currently 12 hour shifts in a 4 on / 4 off pattern.


Duties primarily relate to the creation and management of operationally important PNC (Police National Computer) information, such as stolen vehicles and missing or wanted persons. All aspects of this work require a high degree of accuracy to avoid errors, and an eye for detail to identify and rectify and data anomalies at the earliest opportunity.


As a PNC Bureau & DVLA Officer, you would liaise frequently with colleagues and external contacts, ensuring the PNC is updated with accurate data and any sharing of that data is appropriate, lawful and in the correct format. PNC Bureau Officers access national and local system for the purpose of identifying and completing work, clarifying information or assisting others, so you will be the designated contact point for colleagues who require detailed driver or vehicle information from the DVLA.




Your main duties will include:




* Using a variety of local and national systems in order to identify and prioritise tasks.
* Entering and maintaining accurate data in local and national systems.
* Acting as authorised officer for driver and vehicle enquiries with the DVLA.
* Representing the team in local meetings where required.
* Supporting other colleagues, sharing specialist skills and working to highlight/remedy errors identified during quality control checks.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with strong IT skills, sound decision making, excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively unsupervised. You will also have:

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with accuracy and attention to detail in written/typed work.
* Excellent IT skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* The ability to work flexibly, confidently and competently on own initiative, and as part of a team.
* Sound awareness or experience of data input requirements.
* Excellent planning and organising skills with ability to manage competing and frequently changing priorities.
* Experience of handling sensitive personal information.
