Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to join our adult social work team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting three assessments per week, ensuring that all assessments are completed in a timely and thorough manner. This role offers an excellent hourly rate of £32 and provides the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those who are unable to make decisions for themselves.
Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct Best Interests Assessments in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
* Complete three assessments per week, ensuring each is thorough, accurate, and conducted in a timely manner.
* Gather and analyze information from various sources, including medical records, care plans, and interviews with relevant parties.
* Engage with service users, families, and other stakeholders to understand the individual’s needs, wishes, and best interests.
* Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings and recommendations, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal and organizational standards.
* Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, healthcare providers, and legal representatives, to ensure a holistic approach to each assessment.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to mental capacity and deprivation of liberty.
* Participate in regular supervision, training, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:

* Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work or a related field.
* Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
* Accredited Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification.
* Extensive experience in conducting Best Interests Assessments and a thorough understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DoLS.
* Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with service users, families, and professionals.
* Ability to manage a workload of three assessments per week, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
* Full driving license and willingness to travel as required.
