Vehicle Mechanic - Exeter, Devon

Salary: £36,000-£42,000 per annum | 28 days holiday per year

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join our client in Exeter. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cars, SUVs, 4x4s, and vans. While a Level 3 City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering diploma is preferred, we value experience and expertise in the field equally. The primary responsibilities of this role include conducting serviceable maintenance on vehicles and preparing them for MOT inspections. if you are a qualified MOT tester, your starting annual rate will be offered at £40,000-42,000 per year.
This is also the perfect opportunity if you have serviceable maintenance experience and are looking to up-skill your abilities within the motor trade as the employer will facilitate your training to become fully qualified as an MOT tester.
The funding to become fully qualified with MOT testing will be factored in to your yearly rate starting at £35-36,000, which will increase once you reach MOT tester status.
Responsibilities:
* Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tyre repairs, and brake inspections on various types of vehicles including cars, SUVs, 4x4s, and vans.
* Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs as needed, including engine, transmission, suspension, and electrical system repairs.
* Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify any potential issues that may affect performance or safety.
* Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections by ensuring they meet all necessary requirements and standards.
* Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on vehicles.
* Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Vehicle Mechanic, with a strong understanding of automotive systems and components.
* Experience working on a variety of vehicles, including cars, SUVs, 4x4s, and vans.
* Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently and accurately.
* Diagnostics equipment provided however own tools required.
* Familiarity with MOT inspection requirements and standards.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Valid driving licence and with no more than 6 points on driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Level 3 City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering diploma or equivalent certification.
* Experience using diagnostic equipment and software.
* Previous experience working in an automotive repair environment.
