Job Description:
Job Title: Hospital Healthcare Logistics Expert
Location: National Coverage (across Medirest, Medirest Signature, and Senior Living)
Salary: Up to £60,000 PA plus Car / Car Allowance and benefits
Role:
You will be responsible for providing professional and technical advice in the continued development of Healthcare’s Logistics Services proposition comprising of internal porterage, patient movements, helpdesk, telecoms, waste management, non-patient transport and the transportation of other goods and items.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to identifying and initiating industry leading best practice both in operational settings and for new business. This will also extend to the identification of cost-efficient service methodology providing best value for the business sector and clients.
You will be a brilliant communicator and able to build relationships both in person and remotely with a variety of individuals to include but not limited to Directors within the business and externally, Operational site teams, Proposition Team, Sales and retention teams, Finance Business Partners, Compass One technical and labour optimisation teams, Foodbuy and external supply chain and NHS clients.
Key Accountabilities of the role:
* Identify and implement industry-leading best practices in operational settings and for new business.
* Develop cost-efficient service methodologies to provide the best value for the business sector and clients.
* Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including Support Functions, to provide technical advice and support for healthcare logistics in Medirest Healthcare contracts.
* Develop and introduce service-related continuous improvement initiatives.
* Work with Contract Directors, SMEs, Foodbuy, and the external supply chain to ensure ethical and sustainable procurement of equipment and items.
* Produce and maintain target operating models, delivering best value to clients through cost-efficient and sustainable patient flow portering models.
* Support the Business Development Team in developing healthcare logistics methodology, scoping, and modeling solutions to win new business, including client presentations and mobilization of new contracts.
* Stay updated on industry-leading solutions, new technology, and innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
* Support the business sector in achieving its Net Zero targets through sustainable service provision.
* Represent the business sector at professional forums, sharing information with internal stakeholders.
* Utilize benchmarking data and key performance indicators to drive capacity-to-demand resource planning in a cost-efficient and sustainable manner.
* Influence key performance indicators such as bed occupancy rates and average length of stay (ALOS), focusing on improving patient and materials throughput rates in Portering, Linen, and Waste within a healthcare environment.
About you:
* Adaptability & Resilience: Technical competence with a requirement to lead and influence continuous improvement within complex healthcare environments.
* Influencing & Pragmatism: Ability to assess challenges and opportunities quickly, offer pragmatic solutions, and influence direction.
* Flexibility: Willingness to travel across the UK
* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
* Financial Acumen: Strong financial skills.
* Report Production: Ability to produce reports, statistics, and sales material.
* Decision Making: Ability to work with ambiguity and resolve high volumes of complex challenges expediently.
* Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
* Ability to attain the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC license) for Transport Managers.
* Experience in a similar role providing support to both operations and business development teams.
* Core understanding of UK waste legislation and regulations, including the Environmental Protection Act, Hazardous Waste Regulations, and Duty of Care requirements.
* CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Certificate in Waste and Resource Management.
* IOSH Managing Safely certification.
* Level 5 Diploma in Facilities Management (IWFM), or equivalent.
