Job Description:
We are looking for enthusiastic, committed, and hardworking individuals to join our Children’s ED team in one of the leading hospitals in North London. You must be able to work well under pressure and have a willingness to learn and develop your own skills.
Job Description:
To provide expert emergency care to children and their families attending the children’s emergency departments at the hospital. Support the senior sister/charge nurse, act as nurse in charge when on shift, support junior staff, and participate in team management.
Responsibilities:
Clinical:
Assess, plan, and evaluate individualised patient care, ensuring safe discharge arrangements. Assist in coordinating clinical activities and maintain high nursing standards in line with trust and CQC guidelines. Administer medication safely, support patient adherence, and provide health advice. Evaluate care effectiveness, liaise with multidisciplinary teams, and address any care issues. Support team members, investigate incidents, and take on additional duties as needed.
Professional:
Maintain professionalism and promote RFH positively, ensuring a high standard of patient care. Adhere to NMC guidelines, trust policies, and infection control protocols. Protect patient confidentiality and document accurately. Understand clinical governance and participate in local audits. Report complaints and incidents, and work flexible shifts as required.
Education and Development:
Commit to personal professional development, staying current with clinical skills and mandatory training. Engage in team meetings, research projects, and clinical audits. Support learners and participate in local teaching sessions. Ensure timely appraisals and personal development plans.
Management and Leadership:
Manage patients, supervise staff, and lead the department in senior staff absence. Demonstrate time management, prioritize workload, and support new staff induction. Educate and mentor pre and post-registration students, and supervise junior staff in clinical procedures.
Communication and Relationship Building:
Utilize World Class Care values in interactions with patients, carers, and staff. Ensure effective communication in patient care discussions and handovers. Demonstrate politeness and sensitivity, maintaining good relations with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Work cohesively within a diverse environment to provide excellent patient services.
Requirements:
* Registered Nurse Child / RSCN.
* PILS/APLS
* Emergency Nursing Module
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work as a team member
