We are very excited to be working with Brighton and Hove Council, recruiting for Class 2 Refuse Drivers to cover Brighton and the surrounding areas. There is potential for this to be a long term position and so you must be committed.
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 06.00-Finish. Occasional weekend days will be required, particularly during peak summer seasons and around Bank Holidays
Job role:
* Responsible for driving a Class 2 vehicle and operating the machinery for the refuse loading
* Reporting any issues to the Transport team, including vehicle and machinery concerns and faults, missed collection reasons and any issues encountered on the route
* Collecting and emptying commercial and residential waste and recycling refuse bins
* Happy to load when necessary, requiring coverage on foot
* Guiding the driver through tight situations and crowded areas
* Attending training as required to remain compliant with Health and Safety regulations
* Comply with regular DVLA checks
* Adherence to all regulations. A site induction and full training of the job role will be provided with familiarisation of the local areas.
Requirements:
* A full and valid Class 2 LGV/HGV vehicle licence
* No more than 6 points on your licence Valid digital tacho card and CPC card
* Minimum of one years’ experience driving a class 2 vehicle in the UK
* You must be personable and friendly as you will be working with the public.
* Able to lift heavy objects, including pushing and pulling refuse and recycling bins
* Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Previous experience of driving a refuse lorry is preferred but not essential.
* Own transport preferred due to the shift start and finish times.
