Job Description:
Title: Senior Group Buyer
Job Type: Full Time 40 hours per week - Hybrid role
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:30am - 5pm
Location: Middleton
Manage procurement for the group, optimizing cost, cash, quality, and service. Drive value through strategic sourcing, value engineering, innovation delivery, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee portfolio spend within a category (3% to 8% of turnover).
* Impact COG, supply chain performance, and overhead budgets through pricing, supply continuity, supplier quality, and timely innovation.
* Execute sourcing strategies, supplier selection, contracting, and management.
* Collaborate with commercial, supply chain, R&D, and other business functions.
Measures of Success:
* Financial: Manage portfolio spend of £15-50M, with contract approval up to £1.5M (£1.0M for indirect).
* Operational: Manage suppliers, SKUs, and factories.
* Tender portfolio requirements, negotiate prices, and mitigate supplier risks.
Competencies and Characteristics:
* Identify, understand, and resolve problems proactively.
* Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
* Negotiate and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage pressurized situations and support change initiatives.
Technical Competencies & Qualifications:
* Highly numerate with problem-solving, influencing, and communication skills.
* Expertise in negotiation, procurement strategy, category materials/services, project management, contract writing, and financial forecasting.
* Proficient in SAP, spreadsheets, presentations, and documents.
* Understanding of internal and external business needs, including budget holder requirements and market drivers.
Package Details:
* Base salary: £49,850pa
