Responsibilities:
* Lead and oversee the IT department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, tailored IT curriculum for students with special educational needs (SEN).
* Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage and support SEN students, fostering both academic and personal growth.
* Mentor and support IT teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching skills and effectiveness.
* Collaborate with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and senior leadership team to develop and implement school-wide SEN strategies.
* Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, using data to inform and adjust teaching practices and departmental strategies.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
* Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external specialists to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.
* Stay updated on the latest advancements in SEN education and IT teaching, integrating best practices into the department.
Requirements:
* Hold a valid Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
* Extensive experience teaching IT, with a strong background in working with students with special educational needs.
* Proven leadership experience, preferably within an educational setting.
* Strong ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of SEN students.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about advancements in SEN education.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
* A genuine passion for fostering the academic and personal development of students with SEN.
