Veritas Education are working with an academy trust looking to hire a teaching assistant to work with SEN for September and the beginning of the new academic year. Your role would be working closely with SEN student 1:1 on a part time contract every Thursday and Friday. The successful SEN teaching assistant will be working in reception with a student that will have just joined the school and has mild to high SEN. Experience as a SEN teaching assistant would be preferable and recent graduates with an interest going into special educational needs or psychology.

As a SEN teaching assistant, you will work closely with parents, carers and families as a part of the wider community.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT
SEN Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:
* Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
* Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
* Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
* Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
* Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
SEN Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:
* Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work
* Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
* Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
Qualifications needs as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
Essential:
* Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent
* Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent
Desirable for a SEN teaching assistant:
* An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
