A leading construction company, renowned for its expertise in social housing refurbishment and retrofit works, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Main Contracts Division. This is a prime opportunity to play a crucial role within the organisation, working primarily from their Head Office in the London Borough of Southwark, with regular site visits across London and the South East.
The Quantity Surveyor’s Role The appointed Quantity Surveyor will assist the management team in overseeing a diverse range of projects, with a primary focus on social housing refurbishment and retrofit works. Key responsibilities include budgeting and estimating from first principles, supplier and subcontractor engagement, cost reporting, and final accounting. The role demands a proactive and dynamic approach, especially under pressure and tight deadlines.
The Quantity Surveyor * Proven experience across various work streams, including refurbishment and new builds contracts.
* Demonstrated ability to minimise costs while maximising value and cashflow.
* Extensive knowledge of standard forms of contracts.
* Expertise in supplier and subcontractor engagement.
* Strong cost reporting and final accounting skills.
* Qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
* Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and surveying/estimating software.
* Holder of a full, clean driver’s licence.
* Significant experience in a similar surveying or estimating role.
