Job Description:
Tenancy Support Worker * Location: Sheffield
* Job Type: Full-time, Interim
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Tenancy Support Worker to join our team, providing crucial support to individuals and families facing housing challenges. This role is vital in helping service users who have lost or are at risk of losing their accommodation, including those with complex needs. The aim is to rehabilitate families, ensuring they understand their tenancy responsibilities and integrate successfully into their communities.
Day-to-day of the role: * Work within the policies and procedures of local council services.
* Partner with a team and other agencies to deliver effective support.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of family members to identify support needs and develop detailed plans.
* Manage a caseload of clients, providing structured support based on assessed needs.
* Motivate service users to engage with services and work towards behavioural change.
* Participate in and lead multi-agency case meetings and reviews.
* Evaluate risks to children and report concerns to appropriate agencies.
* Educate service users on tenancy responsibilities and community living.
* Deliver group work and training programmes to achieve service aims.
* Establish community links for additional support.
* Develop and maintain regular family routines, ensuring children’s school attendance.
* Empower service users towards independent living and establish exit plans.
* Assist with income maximisation and housing benefit processes.
* Manage accommodation, ensuring rent and charges are paid and the property is maintained.
* Contribute to team meetings and maintain high standards of practice.
Required Skills & Qualifications: * Understanding of basic housing law and income benefits.
* Awareness of the impact of stress on families and issues affecting adolescents.
* Experience with families or children with support needs, supported housing, or housing management.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to assess needs and risks and work in partnership with various stakeholders.
* Experience dealing with drug and alcohol dependency, tenancy issues, homelessness, child protection, and offending behaviour.
* Motivational skills to encourage behavioural change.
* Team player with the ability to work flexibly.
