Job Description:
Summary We’re looking for a Conservator to join us in Cheshire and Liverpool to provide support and expertise in all aspects of remedial and preventive conservation of collections and interiors. You’ll apply appropriate technical and consultancy skills to enable properties, that will include Dunham Massey, Little Moreton Hall, Lyme, Quarry Bank and Speke Hall, to achieve sustainable standards of conservation, while supporting a range of projects.
Hours:
Part time 22.5 hours per week Monday to Friday - we are flexible as to when you work these hours
Salary:
FTE £44,499pa Actual £26,699pa
Contract:
Fixed term for 12 months

What it’s like to work here You’ll be part of the National Trust’s internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you’ll be working with others to help make things happen. 
Your contractual place of work will be the National Trust office at Altrincham. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week. 
What you’ll be doing You’ll be using your conservation expertise to help and support Trust places, working closely with colleagues to create high-quality experiences for visitors.
You’ll champion the work of the Trust in preventive and remedial conservation, developing and adding to remedial preventive conservation research and analysis. Innovative in your approach, you’ll be protecting collections of art, objects, furniture and precious personal items from environmental threats and finding ways to work more sustainably.
You’ll occasionally procure and supervise external services and expertise to help with meeting the targets of property business plans and conservation plans.
You’ll develop good working relationships with all kinds of partners, working collaboratively and sharing your expertise.
