Tax Consultant . Glasgow . £106 per day (contract). . Mon - Fri, 40 hours per week . . I am recruiting on behalf of an Investment Bank for a Tax Consultant. The successful candidate will be offered an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. This role focuses predominantly on VAT queries, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will join a team of five other consultants.. . Key Responsibilities:. - Attend VAT return review meetings and analyse/challenge presented data.. - Collaborate with local LECs and the Budapest VAT compliance team to provide timely information to Tax Authorities in response to audit requests.. - Coordinate with advisors in various countries to source accurate VAT advice within budget.. - Review commodity trades to ensure compliance with regulations and work with Tech and Ops teams to enhance the current commodities billing system.. - Support the team, Finance, and Business Units with ad hoc advisory requests.. - Liaise with bankers and invoicing teams to advise on the VAT treatment of M&A deals.. - Develop and enhance procedures for the Indirect Tax team.. - Assist with new VAT registrations and subsequent amendments/deregistrations.. . Qualifications and Skills:. - Familiarity with the banking/financial services industry is preferable.. - Experience in teamwork and collaboration, especially in team/project-oriented activities.. - Ability to assertively push back on approvals if necessary.. - Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills.. - Ability to work independently.. - Bachelor’s degree required.. - Professional tax qualifications (e.g., CTA) required.. - 7-15 years of indirect tax experience required.. .
