Secondary PRU . . Youth Worker . . Chorlton . . Prospero teaching are working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Chorlton, the school deals with students with additional needs and mental health issues . . It is an Outreach role - so it will mainly be out in the community and bringing the education to the hardest to reach students. . . The pupils are age 11-16 years old KS3/4 secondary all with EHCP plans and additional needs. . . The pupils have usually experienced some form of trauma, neglect or chaotic home life or all of these things. . . Your role is to build a connection with the young people and act and a mentor and role model for the students. . . You must have a strong TA or Tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools, and you also need to drive and have access to your own car for this role. . . Due to the barriers the pupils have in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with pupils. . . The role will see you using lots of mentoring skills (similar to that used in sports, drama, counselling) to help the individual engage with the school. . . You will support the pupil in the classroom and out of the classroom on a more vocational basis. . . The position is open to all experienced and those who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS . . Previous experience in a similar setting / SEMH/ PRU . LEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant/or equivalent and above is preferable . GCSE Maths and English and Computer literate . TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST: . . Hold Right to Work in the UK . Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application .
