We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking to recruit a Lead Accountant with experience in commercial subsidiaries and providing financial support to large, fast moving projects. 
Job: Lead Accountant
Duration: 12 months maternity cover
Rate: £350 via Umbrella Company, Inside IR35
Site presence: Predominantly remote working, there may be a few occasions needed on site for face to face meetings
Capital Accountant
* Handle the annual budget setting process for the school account, ensuring strategic objectives for financial matters are met through effective planning
* Produce financial strategies including Medium-Term Financial Strategy, Medium Term Financial Plan, Housing Business Plan, Treasury Management Strategy and Capital Strategy
* Act as specialist on all financial matters relating to the Council’s school subsidiaries
* Manage General Fund, Treasury Management and Collection Fund
* Coordinate revenue and capital budget monitoring, including preparation of reports for Leadership Team and Committees
* Deal with Treasury Management activities and Strategy
* Handle VAT implications in respect of payments made and income received
* Develop financial reporting and monitoring tools for Budget Managers
* Coordinate capital budgets and programme, including financing and all associated balance sheet and asset management transactions
Requirement
* Must have experience working within a Local Authority
* Experience working in a school is highly desirable
* Experience of the management of financial planning and budgeting, production of statement of accounts, monitoring and review, including financial modelling and option appraisal of projects
* Minimum of half AAT qualification
* Previous experience of managing a team
