Position: Interim Principal Commercial Property Lawer
Organisation: Local Authority based in the South East of England
Duration: 3 months with the option for an extension
Working Pattern: Full time
Working Arrangement: 1 day per fortnight office attendance
Hourly Rate: up to £65 per hour
Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are recruiting for Local Authority based in the South East of England who are in search of an experienced Principal Commercial Property Lawyer to join the team owing to a permanent member of staff leaving
The role of Principal Commercial Property Lawyer is offered for an initial 3 month period with the potential being there for extension based upon requirement thereafter. This will allow an experienced Principal Commercial Property Lawyer to join the Council whilst they decide on a long term future  
The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive (CILEx) with a proven track record of successfully managing a Commercial Property department  within Local Government
Duties Shall Include:
Caseload Management: Undertake a diverse legal caseload encompassing all aspects of property and regeneration work within the Property and Regeneration teamLegal Advice: Provide high-level, effective, and timely legal advice to all directorates, elected members, including committees, and to senior managers and staff across the authority as well as other clients, ensuring compliance with Lexcel standardsProperty Law Expertise: Offer expert advice in all areas of property law, particularly during council meetings and other council servicesLegal Developments: Stay updated on legal developments in property and regeneration to ensure the Property and Regeneration team adheres to modern good practicesSupervision: Provide legal supervision to junior fee earners in the Property and Regeneration team as appropriate. Work closely with Legal Support Officers to oversee the administrative support they provide on legal transactions While the Council are looking for someone with expertise knowledge in all of these areas applicants who do not fit the full criteria are strongly encouraged to apply for this role
