Assistant Accountant

Our client is an established and highly successful business, supplying the very best products and service to their customers. They are now looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their small, collaborative finance team.
The Assistant Accountant will support the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks. The role is crucial for the accurate maintenance of financial records and the smooth operation of all accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.
Principal Accountabilities – Assistant Accountant

* Input financial transactions into the internal databases
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions
* Assist in the preparation and maintenance of ledgers and journals
* Process invoices and follow up with suppliers as needed
* Ensure timely payments to suppliers and resolve discrepancies
* Daily chasing of overdue debt and issuing statements
* Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis
* Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
* Assist in preparing documentation for external and internal audits
* Responsible for the full end to end payroll process for 2 companies
* Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes
What we need from you?

* Ideally AAT Qualified / Part Qualified ACCA or CIMA
* At least 1-2 years of hands on experience gained within a similar accounting role
* Confident in the use of Excel and accounting software
* Experience within Microsoft Navision and Jet Reporting is desirable however not essential
* A keen eye for detail
* A real team player, keen to support the wider business when necessary
