Job Description:
We need passionate and experienced mental health nurses to join a well-established team at an acute hospital in South West England, assisting and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.
Description:
The primary responsibilities for the post holder will include:
* Providing a high level of nursing and observation.
* Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to help reduce patients’ distress.
* Assisting and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.
* Providing one-to-one nursing for behaviorally disturbed, distressed, or confused patients.
* Offering support and advice to patients with a range of undifferentiated mental health, psychological problems, and psychiatric illnesses.
* Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to individual patients and their families, as appropriate.
* Representing mental health services within the general hospital.
Skills:
* Demonstrable experience in a mental health setting.
* Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures.
* Proficiency in patient restraint using approved techniques.
* Handling and appropriately storing patient valuables.
* Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals.
* Ability to manage demanding situations.
* Ability to cope with exposure to aggressive behavior.
* Capability to plan one’s own workload.
* Knowledge of mental health presentations and appropriate interventions.
* Understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct.
* Knowledge of risk management and how to plan care to account for risk.
