Job Description:
Our client is recruiting for a Waking Night Support Worker to join their residential children’s home in Leiston, near the beautiful Suffolk Coast. You will be providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children aged 9-17 with social, emotional, mental health, and behavioural difficulties. The home accommodates up to 4 children, offering personalised care and fostering their development and well-being.
Role Overview: As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children during night hours. Your responsibilities include monitoring the children, managing any incidents that arise, and providing a calming and secure presence throughout the night. You will work a 4 on 4 off rota ensuring a consistent and reliable presence in the home.
Hours: 4 on 4 off rolling rota, 22:30 - 08:30
Pay Rate:£12.36 - £12.87 per hour (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the safety and security of the children throughout the night
* Conduct regular checks on each child and record observations accurately
* Provide emotional support to children who may be distressed or wake up during the night
* Ensuring the care given to the young people in maintaining the boundaries and structures in place and adhering to the organisation’s expectations
* Maintain a calm and safe environment in the home
* Complete necessary administrative tasks and maintain accurate records
* Communicate effectively with daytime staff to ensure continuity of care
* Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required
* To effectively lead the night shift, managing any incidents which occur with support from the on-call manager
Requirements:
* Education: Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in working with children and young people, or willingness to work towards this
* Experience: Experience in a residential childcare setting is preferred
* Skills: Strong observational, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Commitment: Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts on a rolling rota
* Driving Licence: Preferred but not essential
