Job Description:
Locum Senior SEN Legal Assistant – Up to £25 per hour Umbrella – Remote Working – Midlands
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with an established Local Authority in the Midlands who are recruiting for a Locum Senior SEN Legal Assistant to join their department.
This is a full-time position however candidates with part-time availability may also be considered as long as candidates can work a minimum of 3 days per week.
The role is offered for an initial period of 3 months but with a likelihood of being extended based on workload. This is a remote working position however you will need to attend the office on your first day to collect your IT equipment.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within Local Government as a Legal Executive, Paralegal or Legal Assistant. This position covers both the SEN (Special Education Needs) and Education teams so Paralegals with experience in either or both areas would be desirable.
Duties may include:
* Providing legal support to one or more Solicitors across the Education team
* Dealing with Tribunal and complaints co-ordination
* Providing legal advice and support in all appeals for children and young people with EHC plans across the County
* Preparing bundles for hearings and circulating them to court and the relevant parties
* Drafting of case summaries, briefs to counsel and letters of instruction to experts
* Assisting with Education Law matters including school admission appeals
* Leading in the allocation and attendance processes linked to mediation and resolution of all disputes in relating to the SEND Tribunal processes
* Ensuring that all documentation linked to a SEND Tribunal appeal is distributed appropriately and within specified time constraints
* Diary maintenance of Solicitors and clients with court dates
* Obtaining disclosure from third parties, such as schools, police and hospitals
* Redacting of documents and carrying out disclosure
* Reviewing evidence, documents and Section 7 Reports
