Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher Position: SEN Teacher
Location: Slough, Berkshire
Salary:
Contract Type: Full-Time
Start Date: September 2024
We are looking for a passionate SEN Teacher who will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting teaching methods to suit the needs of each student, and working closely with other staff members to ensure a fully inclusive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEN, ensuring all students are engaged and making progress.
* Develop and implement IEPs for students with SEN, regularly reviewing and updating these plans in collaboration with parents, carers, and external agencies.
* Support students with a range of needs, including but not limited to learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, and emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* Work closely with the SENCO, classroom teachers, and teaching assistants to provide effective in-class support and differentiated learning opportunities.
* Monitor and assess students’ progress, maintaining detailed records and providing regular feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
* Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay updated with best practices in SEN education.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Experience working with students with special educational needs.
* Strong understanding of SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
* A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse needs.
Desirable:
* SEN-specific qualifications or training.
* Experience in working within a mainstream secondary school setting.
* Familiarity with assistive technology and other resources that support SEN students.
