Job Description:
Compliance Manager * Location: Buckinghamshire (Hybrid option available)
* Salary: £35k - £45k per annum
An esteemed high street law practice with a national reputation for excellence is seeking a Compliance Manager. This role is pivotal in maintaining the firm’s adherence to professional standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with a comprehensive understanding of legal compliance frameworks.
Day-to-day of the role: * Oversee risk management for the firm, ensuring all practices align with professional standards and regulations.
* Act as the Complaints Manager, addressing client complaints and liaising with the Legal Ombudsman as necessary.
* Communicate with Professional Indemnity Insurance regarding claims.
* Review and update the firm’s policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
* Conduct training sessions for the firm, advising on necessary training and maintaining risk registers, including high-risk and breach registers.
* Develop best practices for the firm to follow, ensuring staff compliance with obligations and quality standards.
* Keep knowledge up-to-date, address training needs, and attend courses as appropriate.
* Participate in monthly meetings to report on compliance status and strategies.
Required Experience, Skills & Qualifications: * Previous experience in a similar role is essential
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
* Strong investigative skills and a sound knowledge of the law within their area of practice.
* Ability to handle a varied workload and adapt to a changing environment.
* Professional approach to work, maintaining patience and good manners at all times.
* Supervisory skills with the ability to respond to employee needs.
* Highly organised with the capability to manage issues across multiple locations.
* A sound understanding of Lexcel requirements, SRA handbook, LAA Crime Contract and Specifications, and AML regulations.
* Good working knowledge of the SRA and Law Society requirements, including SQMs.
* Knowledge of the legal aid and criminal frameworks.
