Job Description:
Storage Assistant * Hourly Rate: £13.15 PAYE
* Location: Euston, London
* Job Type: Full-time, Temporary, ongoing temp booking
* Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm
We are seeking a diligent Storage Assistant to support the national library of the UK. The main tasks involve handling and maintaining the library’s collection within storage areas. This role requires physical work, including retrieving and replacing collection items, and the successful candidate must be comfortable using ladders and moving book carts.
Day-to-day of the role: * Place new material in designated storage areas.
* Maintain collection storage capacity, including the implementation of collection moves.
* Retrieve, deliver, and replace collection items as requested.
* Conduct audits of collection material held in storage areas.
* Box items requiring preservation to ensure their longevity.
* Keep shelves tidy and ensure that collection items are in their correct locations.
* Comply with and implement health and safety procedures within the storage areas.
* The role involves physical activities such as climbing ladders, pushing book carts, and significant walking.
Required Skills & Qualifications: * Physical fitness and ability to engage in manual tasks.
* Comfortable climbing ladders and using kick stools.
* Ability to push book carts or cages and walk considerable distances.
* Attention to detail and ability to follow organisational systems.
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a workplace setting.
* A competent IT user
* Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
