We are a dedicated SEMH school in Croydon looking for a nurturing, full-time Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who require emotional and academic support to thrive.
Role Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and group support for students with SEMH needs, especially those experiencing PTSD
* Foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes emotional well-being
* Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to tailor interventions and strategies for individual students
* Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies
* Build trusting relationships with students to help them feel secure and valued
What we are looking for:
* Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEMH or therapeutic setting
* Understanding of trauma and how it affects learning and behaviour
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
* A compassionate and nurturing attitude, focused on the emotional and social well-being of students
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
