Finance Officer - Mainstream Secondary School
Location: Richmond Upon Thames
Contract: Long Term, Full Time
Rate: £18-22 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: 36 hours per week (may Vary), term time
Are you a skilled finance professional looking for a rewarding role in a vibrant school setting? We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join our team and contribute to the success of a dynamic secondary school.
The Role:
As Finance officer, you will support the Director of Finance & Operations, leading the school’s financial management. This role involves overseeing daily finance operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and income generation.
Key Responsibilities:
*Manage daily financial operations, including payments, cashflow, and systems.
*Provide financial advice and maintain controls across departments.
*Assist in the creation and amendment of financial policies.
*Lead efforts to increase income and reduce costs.
*Oversee payroll, ensuring timely payments.
*Assist with budgets, management accounts, and reports.
*Coordinate audits and financial returns.
*Ensure data protection compliance and support subject access requests.
Person Specification:
*Part or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
*Experience in a school or similar setting.
*Strong communication skills to explain financial information to non-finance staff.
*Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
*Knowledge of education finance and reporting.
*Leadership skills to manage and support finance team members.
