All about the role
Based at our newly developed Barrett Engineering Steel Willenhall site, as Transport Planning Manager, you will ensure that all aspects of the transport functions for the Site are delivered in a timely / cost efficient manner. Creating & delivering the Daily Transport Load Program in the most cost-effective way for up to 8 Class 2 vehicles delivering mainly across the Midlands and South of England. This is a hands-on role, the hours are 42.5 per week Monday to Friday, with flexibility to adapt working hours within our operational window of 6am to 6pm.
Duties will include:
• To create & deliver the Daily Transport Load Program in the most cost-effective way.
• To manage & control all vehicle maintenance requirements to meet statutory regulations including Servicing, Plating, MOT, Road Tax.
• Monitor / regulate driver hours to comply with legislation.
• Liaise with drivers on day-to-day operations and be the point of contact for any issues.
• Create load plans and all documentation.
• Review cost effectiveness of planned runs.
• Proactively review In-house v 3rd Party delivery options.
• Maintain agency relationships for site cover & support.
• Measure KPI’s to review departmental performance.
• Create a culture of continuous Improvement within the department.
• Monitor load efficiency by cost / weight & vehicle utilisation.

Skills Required
• Experience in Warehousing /Operations Transport Planning environment.
• Pro-active & tenacious attitude & approach to problem solving.
• Excellent communication skills with good computer / numerical skills.
• Challenge peers on route efficiency / load efficiency.
• Exceptional customer service both internal & external.
• Flexibility in operational working hours.
• Full UK driving license
• Conversant with transport regulations, (vehicle & driver).
