Job Title: Health and Safety Officer - Warehouse
Location: Bedford
Salary: From £25,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (flexible hours)
About the Role: We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Warehouse Health and Safety Officer to join our team in a brand-new position focused on maintaining and improving safety standards across our warehouse. You will be the key advocate for health and safety on the warehouse floor, dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of all employees. In this role, you’ll bring practical experience and insight to help our team develop safer, more efficient procedures.
You will have the opportunity to create and implement robust safety policies that align with standards from our other site, working collaboratively to bring consistency across the company. You’ll be supported by a dedicated team as you help shape a positive safety culture.
Health & Safety Key Responsibilities: *Hands-On Safety Management: Actively monitor and assess warehouse operations, engaging directly with employees to ensure safe working practices.
*Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification: Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential hazards, devising strategies to mitigate them.
*Report Writing: Prepare clear and comprehensive reports on safety incidents, inspections, and improvements to be reviewed by management.
*Policy Development: Establish and enforce health and safety policies that mirror procedures at our other company site, ensuring consistent practices.
*Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with warehouse staff and management, promoting a culture of safety by building strong relationships and addressing concerns constructively.
*Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions, working alongside colleagues to ensure sustainable practices.
*Employee Training & Support: Educate employees on safe work practices, conduct training sessions, and provide ongoing support to reinforce safety protocols.
Candidate Profile: *Experience: Proven experience in a health and safety role within a warehouse or industrial environment, with hands-on knowledge of daily warehouse operations.
*Risk Assessment & Reporting: Competent in conducting risk assessments and writing detailed reports, with a keen eye for spotting safety issues.
*Strong Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage tasks independently and collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
*Safety-First Mindset: Passionate about safety, with the drive to make our workplace safer and healthier for everyone.
*Personal Qualities: Reliable, adaptable, and able to handle diverse challenges with resilience and a positive attitude.
*Team-Oriented: Works well with others, promoting cooperation rather than enforcement, and builds trust among colleagues.
*Adaptable & Flexible: Able to adjust to changing priorities and willing to take on a variety of tasks as needed.
What We Offer: *Full Support: Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing support from our management team to help you succeed in this role.
*Career Development: Opportunities for further training and growth within the company as we expand our health and safety initiatives.
*Collaborative Environment: A workplace where your ideas are valued, and you can make a real difference.
If you are passionate about health and safety and want to make a positive impact in a dynamic environment, we’d love to hear from you!
