Job Description:
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Enfield for an experienced and fully qualified SENCO. This is a non-teaching role, where you will take on a key leadership position to develop, manage, and oversee the SEN provision within the school, and line-manage the Assistant SENCO. The successful candidate will work to ensure that all students receive targeted support tailored to their individual needs in a compassionate and structured environment.
Responsibilities:
*Lead and coordinate SEN provision across the school, ensuring compliance with SEND Code of Practice and other statutory requirements.
*Design and implement effective support plans and interventions for students with SEN, with a focus on SEMH needs.
*Line-manage and support the Assistant SENCO, fostering their development and ensuring the effective implementation of SEN strategies.
*Collaborate with teaching and support staff to identify student needs, set and monitor targets, and support effective differentiation in the classroom.
*Liaise with external agencies, families, and carers to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach for each child’s educational and emotional well-being.
*Establish and maintain monitoring and evaluation systems to assess the impact of interventions and make adjustments as needed to enhance outcomes.
Requirements:
*Qualified SENCO with NASENCO accreditation and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
*Proven experience in an SEN/SEMH setting, with strong knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
*Previous experience in a leadership or management role, ideally with line-management responsibilities.
*Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and families.
*Current and comprehensive understanding of SEN legislation and best practices.
