Data Engineer
Hybrid - 2/3 days onsite
Our client, a leader in the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical expertise in data engineering to support innovative, data-driven solutions in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The role requires you to work onsite in London 2-3 days per week, allowing you to closely engage with cross-functional teams while balancing some remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Data Engineer, you will:
*Analysis & Design: Assist the Data Analyst with tasks such as mapping source data to the existing data model and design of database schemas and SSIS packages.
*ETL Uplift & Data Integration: Using the technical standards provided, uplift and redevelop existing ETL processes to ingest source data from different systems while ensuring seamless integration of data from these systems into the unified data warehouse.
*T-SQL Programming: Write complex T-SQL scripts for data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis. Optimize existing queries and stored procedures to enhance performance and ensure efficient data processing.
*Performance Optimisation: Ensure the stability, flexibility, and scalability of the data warehouse. Identify and resolve potential issues, ensuring the system can handle increasing data volumes and user demands.
*Testing & Validation: Conduct preliminary testing to validate the accuracy and performance of ETL processes and the data warehouse. Assist in identifying and resolving any data quality, transformation or integration issues.
*Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of ETL processes, data mappings, and other technical aspects of the data warehousing initiative. Help develop and document functional, technical requirements and evidence of testing.
*Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the development team, data analysts, subject matter experts and business stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the data warehousing initiative.
Key Requirements:
*Extensive experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and development within Microsoft SQL Server.
*Advanced proficiency with T-SQL for stored procedure programming.
*Proficiency in scripting languages (such as C#, PowerShell, or Python) for enhancing SSIS functionality.
*Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, architectures, and best practices.
*Strong knowledge of database architecture, indexing, and query optimization techniques.
*Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for data quality and accuracy.
*Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
