The National Probation Service (NPS), Norfolk County Council have partnered with St Andrew’s Healthcare to deliver Community Sentence treatment Requirements as part of a Mental Health Treatment Requirement initiative. This is a unique opportunity to work as an assistant psychologist embedded in probation offices under the guidance and supervision of qualified psychologists from St Andrew’s Healthcare.
Within this role you will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Criminal Justice System (CJS); providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the psychologist and within the overall framework MHTRs, and St Andrew’s policies and procedures.
Due to the autonomy of the role, it is desirable that applicants have some experience working as an Assistant Psychologist before and a relevant Master’s degree in psychology. It is a requirement that they are eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.
The role will be located across Norfolk, offering face to face interventions, though some remote sessions will be offered virtually to meet the needs and preference of clients. Travel outside of Norfolk and outside of the main working bases is reimbursed separately and is typically required for training.
You will facilitate effective communication within the NPS and other agencies that may include: primary care services, specialist mental health services, social care and third sector services to ensure continuity of care across all services.
