Head of Claims - Operations (Hybrid)
On behalf of our client, a leading law firm, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their Claims Handling Department.
About the Team:
The Claims Handling Department provides managed claims services for top professional indemnity insurers, overseeing claims from first notification to resolution. The team operates with delegated authority on pre-litigated matters and supports the firm’s insurance strategy, contributing referrals and expertise across the broader business.
The Role:
This internal, non-client-facing role is pivotal in the operational management of the department, reporting directly to senior leadership. Based in the firm’s Bristol office, with flexible hybrid working, the Operations Manager will work alongside the Head of Claims Handling and report to the overseeing Partner. The role focuses on ensuring efficient claims processing, staff development, and effective performance against client standards.
Key Responsibilities:
*Team Leadership & Development: Oversee Scheme Managers and Team Leaders, driving performance and maintaining high standards of claims handling.
*Operational Oversight: Manage capacity, resource allocation, and surge planning, ensuring client service standards and efficient team operations.
*Compliance & Quality Control: Enforce SLA and process compliance, supporting training, auditing, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
*Collaboration & Strategy: Work with senior leadership to set team strategies and enhance processes; represent the team in client meetings and contribute to new business onboarding.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
*Experience: Proven operational leadership within an insurance claims environment.
*Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and compliance knowledge in a regulated field.
*Qualifications: Relevant insurance or legal qualifications are an asset.
