Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Ecologist to join Herefordshire Council on an interim basis. This role offers a 16-week initial contract with the potential for extension. If you’re a skilled ecologist ready to make an impact, we would love to hear from you!
Location: Hereford
Rate: £54.19 per hour (umbrella)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (with potential flexibility)
Start Date: ASAP
Role Overview:
As the Principal Ecologist, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing ecological assessments, advising on biodiversity, and ensuring environmental compliance. You will work closely with the planning and development teams to guide sustainable ecological practices and make a real difference in protecting Herefordshire’s natural environment.
Key Responsibilities:
*Lead ecological assessments and habitat surveys.
*Provide expert ecological advice to council teams and stakeholders.
*Oversee the integration of biodiversity measures within planning and development projects.
*Ensure adherence to environmental legislation and best practices.
Requirements:
*Extensive experience in ecology, ideally with experience in a senior or principal role.
*In-depth knowledge of UK biodiversity legislation and policies.
*Strong communication and project management skills.
