Senior Infrastructure Consultant
City of London (Blackfriars / St. Paul’s)
£80,000 - £110,000 per annum
Hybrid: 2-3 days office-based
Permanent, Full-Time
Our client is a boutique IT MSP seeking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Consultant / Architect to work with their clients to architect, design and implement a broad array of IT solutions. This is a rewarding and varied customer-facing role in a small and friendly team, where you can experience the satisfaction of bringing your architectures and solutions to life.
What we’re looking for:
*Solid grounding in all IT architectural concepts (inc. security, availability, recovery, backup, performance, scalability and monitoring) and infrastructure technologies (inc. on-premise, private cloud, public cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS).
*Expertise in any two of the following technologies: Compute & Storage (VMware, HyperV, Azure or AWS); Windows Server (inc. AD and GPO); Hosted Desktop (Citrix, RDS or Azure Virtual Desktop); or Messaging (Exchange or Exchange Online).
*Ability to apply past experience to quickly understand any system in detail.
*Ability to work well with others, including engineers with varying seniority and experience, treating others with respect and supporting their development.
*Excellent customer facing communication skills, verbal and written.
*Commercial awareness: Understand commercial boundaries and that “time is money”.
*Understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) including build and operational costs.
*Quality ethos with a desire to ensure all systems are secure, resilient and performant.
*Ability to architect and design fit-for-purpose solutions within constraints of time & cost.
*Able to maintain a strong sense of ownership for all deliverables.
*Visio, Word and Excel expert.
Qualifications
*Appropriate Microsoft, Azure, AWS, VMware etc. certifications will be highly regarded.
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of essential technologies:
*Microsoft Desktop OS (Windows 10 & 11)
*Active Directory (Users & Computers, GPO)
*Entra ID & MS 365 applications
*WSUS, EndPoint Manager (InTune)
*UC (Teams), Cloud PBX (Ring Central, 3CX, Cisco)
*AV (DSP, DANTE, Room Systems)
Intermediate knowledge of:
*Virtualisation (Citrix, ESXi and Hyper V)
*Deployment Services (WDS, SCCM)
*IPv4 Networks (DHCP, DNS, TCP, S/FTP, SMTP, NTP vLANs)
*Mac Desktop OS
*Mobile Devices (iOS, Android)
*Microsoft Server OS (2016/2019/2022)
*Structured Cabling (Patching, Cable Tracing, IDC)
*Backup Technology (Veeam)
*Storage systems (SAN)
*Scripting (PowerShell, Python)
Desirable Qualifications
*Microsoft Certified Associate (Microsoft Certified Associate – AZ801, AZ305 ))
*Network+ or CCNA
The Role
IT Consultation:
*Understand customers’ existing IT solutions and infrastructure architectures.
*Collect, understand and document customer business and technical requirements.
*Determine solution options, fully analysing advantages and disadvantages from both technical and commercial angles.
*Document and present solution options and recommendations to senior non-technical customer audiences.
IT Architecture and Design:
*Document detailed IT architectures, high-level deigns (HLD) and low-level designs (LLD) for existing and new systems and for internal and customer-facing audiences. Carry out necessary research and testing to ensure architectures and designs are accurate and fit for purpose.
Implementation of IT infrastructure solutions:
*Create implementation, test and rollout plans, including Change Requests.
*Implement, test and launch solutions.
*Create maintenance plans and support documentation, implement monitoring, provide training and handover solutions to our clients customer operations teams.
3rd line support:
*Infrequent engagement with support tickets, during office hours only.
