Job Description:
Paying £30,135 + Benefits Based in Chorley, Lancashire our client is a charity that specialises in providing supported housing throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are recruiting for a Rents and Service Charge Assistant to join their finance team. This is a permanent job opportunity that offers hybrid working. The working hours are 8.45am - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am - 4pm each Friday.
THE JOB
The Rent and Service Charge Assistant is responsible for accurately recording and reconciling service charges, reserve funds, and rent increases in accordance with policies. The role serves as the main contact for queries on rent, leases, service charges, and reserve funds, delivering efficient financial support to both internal and external customers.
Key accountabilities:
*Prepare monthly lease payment schedules and calculate annual rent increases
*Support the Finance Manager in creating annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for service charges and reserve funds
*Collaborate with various teams to ensure accurate expenditure coding and monitoring
*Process weekly rent debits, assist in tracking service charges, and handle rent and lease records
*Produce financial reports and assist in audit preparation
*Uphold customer service excellence, aligning with organisational values and policies
THE PERSON
This role is suited for someone with a finance background in housing, who is organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications: AAT Level 2 or equivalent experience.
Skills and Experience: Required experience includes working in finance, handling rents and service charges, knowledge of social housing, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Desired skills include experience with Xero software and purchase/sales ledgers.
Attributes: Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, adaptability, and collaborative work style.
