Job Advert: Sports Teaching Assistant
Location: South west London,
School: SEMH Secondary School
Contract: Full time, long term
Hours: Full-Time - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Late Start
Pay: GBP90 - GBP110 per day dependent on experience
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable Secondary School in the Guildford, Surrey. As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students within the sports faculty and assisting in various other areas as required. This is a term-time only position, and the working hours are 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
*Supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher, both within the assigned sports faculty and in other faculties as per the cover rota.
*Liaise with staff to understand and effectively communicate the requirements of the assigned work.
*Provide clear instructions and support to students, motivating and encouraging them as necessary to enhance their learning experience.
*Implement the school’s Behaviour Policy and keep accurate attendance records.
*Assist the Curriculum Leader with administrative/technical tasks as directed.
*Deliver small group tuition following appropriate training.
*Assist with first aid in emergencies
Essential Skills and Experience:
*Interest in working with young people and belief in their potential for success
*Degree in Sports or Physical Education
*Robust and caring disposition with patience and empathy
*Ability to explain concepts clearly
*Natural motivator with clear boundaries and a firm but fair approach
*Confidence in dealing with young people aged 11-18 years
*Well-organised and practical
*Positive and caring attitude
*Enthusiasm for and commitment to working in a co-educational, multicultural comprehensive school
*Strong verbal and written communication skills
*Flexibility in approach
*Excellent attendance and punctuality record
