Head of Finance | Sheffield
Dynamic Leadership Position in a Multi-Revenue Stream SME
An exciting opportunity has just become available for a qualified and experienced Head of Finance in a dynamic multi-faceted SME based in the Sheffield area. This role is ideal for a finance professional looking to lead the finance function in a senior role, reporting directly to the owner. We seek a candidate with strong financial expertise and a passion for driving the business’s ambitious growth strategy, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
About the Role
As Head of Finance, you will oversee all financial aspects of the business, ensuring strict adherence to sector-specific financial regulations. You will lead financial planning, budget management, and reporting, while providing strategic financial insights to the Senior Management Team. You will also play a crucial role in building key relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
*Financial Monitoring & Compliance: Oversee the business’s finances, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations.
*Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage budget planning, monitor financial performance, and conduct ongoing reviews to optimise resources.
*Reporting:Prepare monthly management accounts, annual statutory accounts, and present financial insights to the Board.
*Risk & Policy Management: Lead the financial risk inventory and ensure compliance with business policies, including Financial Control, Risk Management, and Reserves policies.
*Payroll & VAT Management: Oversee payroll and VAT submissions and optimise strategies for VAT and Gift Aid.
*Financial Leadership: Mentor the finance team, manage direct reports, and conduct finance training sessions for staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
*Essential: *ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified accountant
*Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior financial role
*Excellent understanding of UK accounting principles, cashflow modelling, and financial reporting
*Desirable: *Strong commercial awareness and experience in VAT strategy execution
