This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong foundation in billing within a professional services environment.
Role Summary:
The Billing Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the firm’s billing processes, ensuring accuracy in invoices, timely submissions, and effective communication with clients regarding billing queries. This role requires someone with a meticulous approach to financial data, an understanding of legal billing procedures, and a proactive attitude.
Responsibilities:
*Invoice Preparation: Prepare, review, and process client invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
*Billing Queries: Serve as a point of contact for client billing inquiries, handling queries professionally and providing prompt resolutions.
*Time and Expense Tracking: Ensure accurate entry of time and expenses into the firm’s billing system, working closely with attorneys and staff.
*Client Accounts: Maintain and update client billing information, ensuring all records are current and comply with firm policies.
*Billing Adjustments: Process write-offs, discounts, and adjustments as directed, and assist in reconciliations when required.
*Reporting: Generate monthly billing reports for management, assisting with data analysis and insights as needed.
*Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to streamline billing operations and enhance accuracy.
Requirements:
*Experience: At least 2 years of experience in billing in a law firm or professional services setting.
*Skills: Proficiency in billing software such as aderant and MS Office Suite (especially Excel). Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
*Attributes: Strong organisational abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
