Job Description:
Learning Support Assistant *Job Type: Term-time, Part-time
*Location: Horsham
*Salary Range: £18,906.14 - £19,223.65
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team. This role is integral in encouraging students with special needs to become focused, independent learners who make good progress. The successful candidate will be responsible for the 1:1 support of a student with complex needs and an EHCP, delivering tailored intervention sessions to improve student progress.
Day to Day of the Role: *Provide 1:1 support for a student with complex needs, working towards the outcomes outlined in their EHCP.
*Deliver intervention sessions to improve student progress in core skills, such as reading.
*Adapt the timetable to suit the individual student’s needs in collaboration with the SENDCo.
*Support the class teacher in identifying ways the student can access learning and provide regular feedback.
*Liaise with teachers to ensure pre-teaching opportunities are available for the student.
*Encourage the student to work independently using a variety of strategies.
*Understand the student’s wellbeing needs and provide suitable support.
*Mentor the student, collaborate on their Student Passport targets, and participate in Annual Reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications: *Experience in supporting students with special educational needs.
*Ability to deliver 1:1 intervention sessions and adapt teaching methods to individual needs.
*Strong communication skills for liaising with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies.
*Commitment to the confidentiality of sensitive information.
*Willingness to undertake administrative tasks and participate in relevant in-service training.
*Familiarity with Schemes of Work and the ability to assist with the adaptation of resources.
