Job Description:
A prominent UK law firm, with offices throughout the country, is seeking a Casualty Lawyer to join their talented team. This opportunity offers a flexible working environment and the chance to be involved in a diverse range of legal matters. The firm handles a broad spectrum of legal services, and the successful candidate will play a key role in managing a varied caseload, contributing to a dynamic and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities: * Caseload Management: As a Casualty Lawyer, you will manage a mix of pre-litigation and litigated claims, covering areas such as Highways Law, Occupiers Liability, Employers Liability, and Housing Disrepair. Additionally, there are opportunities to work on more complex matters such as Data Breach Claims, Human Rights, and Subsidence/Flooding—providing exposure to a wide range of legal issues.
* Legal Drafting and Research: The role involves drafting pleadings, witness statements, and preparing cases for trial. You will also conduct legal research and investigations to support case progression and ensure the best outcomes for clients.
* Client and Court Interaction: You will interact regularly with clients, counsel, and other relevant parties. This includes attending conferences and court hearings, ensuring effective communication and case management.
* Business Development: The firm encourages a proactive approach to business development, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the team’s efforts to expand its client base and enhance its reputation.
About You: * Experience: The role is open to solicitors with NQ to 2 years PQE, ideally with experience in defending litigated claims. However, candidates with claimant litigation experience will also be considered, providing flexibility for those transitioning into a defendant role.
* Skills: You will need a solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and litigation procedures. The role demands strong time management, attention to detail, communication, and IT skills.
* Flexibility and Teamwork: Given the varied nature of the caseload, a flexible approach is essential. You should be comfortable working autonomously as well as collaborating closely with colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
* Self-Motivation: The ideal candidate will be able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines and targets while maintaining high standards of work.
Why This Role: * Career Development: This role offers significant opportunities for growth and the chance to work on a diverse range of high-quality claims, providing a solid foundation for career progression.
* Work-Life Balance: The firm supports flexible working arrangements, with hybrid working options available. You will be provided with the necessary tools and equipment to work remotely when needed.
* Attractive Benefits: The firm offers a competitive benefits package, including 28 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays), healthcare cover, pension contributions, life insurance, and a range of other benefits designed to promote employee well-being.
Ideal Candidate: *Solicitors with NQ to 2 years PQE.
*Experience in litigated claims (defendant or claimant).
*Solid understanding of CPR and litigation procedures.
*Strong organizational, communication, and IT skills.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
