Job Description:
A Design Engineer vacancy has become available within a business that supplies high-volume and value complex assemblies to clients across various sectors. On-site, they run clean and efficient modern-day manufacturing processes, ensuring their finished product is better than most. The Design Engineer will provide support to the NPI and Engineering departments by providing designs and 3D models for tools and fixtures. Responsibilities will include:
*Designing jigs, fixtures and tools for new products.
*Supporting estimating and NPI teams with forming analysis for metal stamping and press brake forming.
*Assisting the estimating team with fixture concepts for quotation purposes.
*Working with customers on design for manufacture (DFM) improvements.
*Supporting the toolroom and production engineering with designs and technical drawings.
The skills required for the Design Engineer include:
*Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
*Degree, HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
*Experience of designing fixtures and tools.
*Confident 3D CAD user, preferably Solidworks.
*Understanding of manufacturing processes, including pressing, laser cutting, welding and machining.
*Advantageous to have experience in 3D printing and/or CNC machining.
